Friday Fiasco: Generic Fonts

Did I mention this was one of my pet peeves? Not only is this a personal pet peeve of mine, but I am going to consider it a violation of Marketing 101.

Generic Fonts

When creating a new marketing campaign, advertisement or logo, it is best to refrain from using what I term as “generic fonts.”

Why?

Because creativity and personalizing your brand in a unique way is key. Sure, there are times when the use of general fonts can be applied (keep it to the boardroom, please); but when launching a major brand campaign or introducing your brand, personalizing details even down to graphic elements such as fonts all play a major role in staying uniquely recognizable.

Of course, other marketing initiatives must fall in line with staying at the top of your communication and engagement game.

Google Fonts provides a wide range of fonts you can utilize and integrate within your website design and more. There are also several other websites and programs that allow you to download unique fonts as well as programs that you can use to create a custom font for you and your business marketing goals and brand campaigns.

So please, as you embark on your next big brand campaign, let’s stay away from Papyrus, m’kay?

Weekly Business Tip: Simple Steps to Conversion

Oh my goodness! We make conversion sooooo hard sometimes! Then we sort of confuse ourselves with all of these marketing equations, ROI, so on and so forth! Well, there actually is the right mix of organizational goals and actions that translate into a dynamic formula that – get this – is specific to your business! No there’s not a one size fits all; there are actions that each team member – starting with leadership – has to take. One of the simplest ways I can share with you right now is: DAH DAH DAAAAH – the FOLLOW UP!

One of the biggest ways we miss business opportunities is failing to follow up (which I have been totally guilty of myself!). That connection you made online, the emailed question you never answered, the personal handshake that you forgot the name of, the lost business card! Following up is one of the most important things you can do because it shows that you are committed and that you care! So show your contacts your Crest smile in more ways than one – perhaps it may lead you to that incredible referral!

Biz Pitch Question: How often do you make personal contacts/follow-ups, and do you think it is important to your brand plan?

Weekly Business Tip: Start on the Right Foot

Whether it be a new business or and adapted program or event within your business, it’s always great to set the right foundation before moving forward. I know a lot of us get excited when a new idea or initiative comes along – I know I do – but we have to keep everything in perspective if we want our results to be successful.

First

You have to start with your vision. Habakkuk 2:2 says,

…write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.

So it is important to get things out of our minds and into a format that is both transferrable and able to be utilized by multiple persons within your organization.

Second

I cannot tell you how important it is to have the right team around you! No, everyone is not going to have the same strengths, but linking up with like-minded individuals that are just as passionate as you are about your organizational goals is key. Hold team meetings to ensure that ideas are heard, plans are solidified, and everyone is motivated.

Third

Implement your vision plan that you established up front. Sticking to your organizational values is one of the keys to help you be most impactful. Evaluate your program periodically to ensure the organizational goals still parallel the overall vision.

Bonus!

Today is Foursquare Day! So make sure you check in and link up with other local businesses. Be sure to share visions and goals for your community and business!
